The University has been training foreign students since 1962. In 1992 there was founded a fundamental training division for foreign students at which they study Russian for their further studies at the university.
500 students, 400 post-graduates and probationers from 45 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Northern and Latin America have studied at KSTU. Among them are 364 students from Cuba, 159 — from China, 57 — from Vietnam, 47 — Poland, 73 — Germany, 34 — Bulgaria, 20 — USA, 19 — Bangladesh, 20 — Morocco.
Fundamental training division also offers courses in mathematics, physics, IT, etc. necessary for further studies at the respective faculties. Those having successfully passed the final exams, are moved up into the faculties.
For an overseas student applying to study at KSTU, a secondary education is compulsory for undergraduate studies, while those willing to undertake post-graduate studies must hold a Master's degree or a Specialist diploma. These qualifications and a successful interview form the basis for being accepted on a course.
It is also necessary to present to the University the following documents:
- personal declaration;
- certified copy of the secondary education certificate (should include the list of subjects and grades received);
- certified copy of passport;
- medical certificate stating no contraindications for study in Russia and the result of AIDS-test;
