The session included thematic tables on Waste Management, Animal Life and Specially Protected Natural Areas, Ecological Education, Water Management Complex, Forestry Complex, Mineral and Raw Material Base, and Control and Supervision Activities.

The staff of the Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture took part in three thematic tables: Ecological Education, Water Management Complex, Control and Supervision Activities.

O.A. Novozhilov made a report from Water Management Complex thematic table. In his speech, he warned about the inadmissibility of turning the watercourses of the region into lifeless water collectors.

The speaker also noted that despite the importance of reclaiming and draining rainwater into natural water bodies, these bodies should remain natural; and when developing watercourse cleaning projects, conditions should be created to preserve aquatic biological resources, fauna, and flora.

The main objective of the session was to discuss topical problems in the field of ecology and to develop effective solutions for nature conservation and environmental quality improvement.

Such important topics as forestry development, waste management, water supply and consumption, mineral resources, fauna and specially protected natural areas, as well as eco-education, were on the agenda.

The meeting resulted in the adoption of resolutions that envisage concrete steps to address the identified problems. Among them: strengthening control over compliance with the legislation, increasing the volume of forest seed production, introducing algorithms for effective waste management, and of adjacent to water bodies systems of land reclamation and drainage in order to create a comprehensive program to restore the hydrographic network of the region, improving the environmental literacy of the population.

The Governor emphasised the importance of joint efforts of all parties to ensure the environmental well-being of the Kaliningrad region, ‘The event showed a high degree of interest of the authorities and the public in addressing environmental challenges facing the region. We are ready to continue active work in this direction to create comfortable living conditions and preserve nature for future generations.
