KSTU scientists presented an innovative development at a meeting of the Eureka Prize expert commission

On Friday, the Kaliningrad region administration hosted a meeting of the expert commission for the Eureka Prize.
It included representatives from scientific, educational, state, production, and business organizations of the Kaliningrad region.
Our university was represented in the commission by the Vice-Rector for Research N.A. Kostrikova and the Director of the Institute of Industry-Based Economics and Management A.G. Mnatsakanyan.
B.Y. Vorotnikov, the head of the Chemistry Department at KSTU, and Valeria Lemeshko, a student of the Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Food Systems, were among the contenders for the prize Eurika.
At the meeting, Valeria Lemeshko presented the joint work Functional Drinks of the Amber Region.
In this project, our scientists have integrated succinic acid as a valuable component of Baltic amber into the recipes of drinks with different flavours that are beneficial for human health.
This invention will be a good alternative to alcohol and other not very healthy drinks.
KSTU scientists believe that the current utilization of succinic acid is insufficient, despite its unique properties.
