Students from the Institute of Digital Technologies and representatives of the INCONTROL Group of companies held a meeting at our university. The event brought together future specialists from three in-demand fields: Automation of Technological Processes and Productions, Informatics and Computer Engineering, and Information Security. Future automation engineers, IT specialists, and cybersecurity experts learnt how work on automated process control systems (APCS) is organised at critical infrastructure sites and what is required to launch a career.

The main aim of the visit was to tell students about the real-world challenges involved in developing APCS, as well as the prospects for practical training and employment at the company with 30 years’ experience working with Russia’s energy giants.

Opening the meeting, company representatives emphasised, "INCONTROL is not just a developer but a full-fledged architect of the country’s energy security.” The students were shown slides featuring real-world projects, including facilities familiar to every Kaliningrad resident: Kaliningradskaya TPP-2 and Pregolskaya, Mayakovskaya, Talakhovskaya and Primorskaya thermal power stations.

Of particular interest was the presentation on the entirely Russian range of controllers and software, which replaced Western solutions. Students of the Automation of Technological Processes and Productions programme saw what real industrial controllers, control cabinets and control panel equipment look like—the very equipment they would be working with after graduation.

The meeting took the form of an open dialogue. Company representatives discussed in detail the three key areas of their business and spoke about their future plans.

The second half of the meeting was devoted to career opportunities. The guests from INCONTROL clearly outlined the kind of students they are looking for. “We’re not just looking for degrees but for passion and an engineering mindset. If you can read automation diagrams, have written even a simple controller, or presented a lab project on network security, you’re already a candidate for us. We look forward to seeing you for practical training,” said a representative from the company’s HR department, addressing the students.
