An underwater robotics tournament for the District Head’s Cup took place in the Light Park of Guryevsk on 30 May. More than 50 teams of young engineers participated in the competition, demonstrating their skills in controlling robots and solving engineering and environmental problems.

Kaliningrad State Technical University acted as the Cup’s academic partner at the invitation of the Guryevsk City Administration. A special guest at the event was O.A. Novozhilov, Director of the Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Teams of schoolchildren from across the district demonstrated impressive skills, controlling underwater drones they had assembled and programmed themselves. It was a real spectacle, where engineering ingenuity met the thrill of competition!

Underwater robotics today is not just a trendy hobby but a strategically important area of technological development. Unmanned underwater vehicles are in demand in oceanography, environmental monitoring, search and rescue operations, and, particularly important for our region, modern aquaculture.

Thus, school pupils taking part in such competitions are mastering technologies that will ensure food security and the sustainable development of the industry as early as tomorrow.

Congratulations to all Cup participants on their excellent results! You are already taking the first steps towards creating the technologies of the future. A passion for robotics could be the start of a brilliant career!

KSTU invites prospective students to pursue a fundamental education in robotics and aquaculture technologies within the Water Bioresources and Aquaculture training programme. The university has everything you need: modern laboratories, specialised departments and partnerships with leading companies in the fishing industry to turn your school-age interest into a sought-after engineering profession.

Detailed information about the programme can be found at.
