KSTU postgraduate student presented his development at a key St. Petersburg Forum event

A postgraduate student from KSTU spoke at the open discussion ‘Looking Beyond the Horizon!’. This is a key event of the Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia. Here, leading figures from the industry and students from fisheries universities—who have previously won university competitions—discuss scientific matters.

N.A. Zimagorov, adviser to the head of the Federal Agency for Fishery, moderated the open discussion. Artur Voloshin, a postgraduate student from the Commercial Fishery Department, represented our university. I.V. Shestakov, Head of the Federal Agency for Fishery, chaired the expert jury. Representatives from the fishing industry, business and academia also assessed the presentations by the young researchers.

Artur presented his work entitled Research Complexes for Hydro-Electromechanical Parameters of a Small Fishing Catamaran for the Development of an Automatic Trawling System. He spoke about the research carried out at the university’s experimental facility and explained the economic benefits of using this advanced construction. The KSTU postgraduate student demonstrated the potential applications of the automatic trawl system on both unmanned vessels and large fishing trawlers. At the end of his presentation, Artur compared his development with foreign equivalents whilst also highlighting its environmental benefits.

Following the presentation, the experts began a discussion and asked questions. I.V. Shestakov summarised the jury’s opinion. He noted that during the forum, our postgraduate student’s development could attract interest from business representatives willing to assist in further testing.
