More than 50 people represent KSTU at the Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia
The 9th International Fishery Forum and Exhibition of the Fisheries Industry, Seafood and Technologies commenced at the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg. This year, the leading university of the Federal Agency for Fishery – Kaliningrad State Technical University – is being represented by more than 50 staff members, young researchers and students from 16 to 18 September.
Organisers arranged a pavilion dedicated to the educational institutions of the Federal Agency for Fishery in one of the forum’s conference halls. The pavilion features several exhibitions showcasing developments by scientists from the agency’s universities, as well as the Fisheries Strategy simulation game, which allows users to model various situations at sea during fishing operations. Staff and cadets from St. Petersburg Maritime Fishery College, a branch of KSTU, are running the pavilion.
In the Passage of the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Centre, there is an exhibition of paintings and photographs dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Sedov and the 100th anniversary of the Kruzenshtern sailing training ships.
The first event involving the university’s administration has already begun. This is a round-table discussion entitled Digitalisation in Fisheries: Business Support and a Regulatory Tool. The programme includes a presentation by the university’s First Vice-Rector, O.G. Ogij. She will discuss with her colleagues the effectiveness of modern maritime and aerial unmanned systems for monitoring aquatic biological resources.
Today at midday Moscow time, the FISHERY SKILLS Youth Forum will host a panel session titled Dive into the Industry! Opportunities for Russian Youth in the Fisheries Sector. Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Youth Policy G.I. Rozinkevich will moderate the event.
The panel session will examine best practices for youth development both across the country as a whole and within the fisheries sector in particular. The university’s First Vice-Rector, O.G. Ogij, will deliver a presentation to the audience entitled Digital Game-Based Technologies in Industry-Specific Education: From Purpose to Value.
After lunch, the finals of the 2nd All-Russian Youth Biohackathon Farwater 2026 – From Aquatic Bioresources to the Bioeconomy will take place on the sidelines of the forum.
Several teams from universities under the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery will participate in the event. Youth research teams Familia, Ryapushki v poryadke and Bubble C will represent KSTU in this intellectual competition.
On 17 September, our colleague, I.M. Titova, Head of the Food Technology Department at KSTU, will take part in a round-table discussion entitled Fish in the Age of Globalization: Economics and Consumption – From Price to Value. Inna Markovna will discuss with leading experts and businesspeople issues relating to the pricing of fish products in Russia and on the global market, the benefits of consuming fish, and the intensifying competition on the global market for health-promoting protein.
On the same day, a key event will take place—an open discussion entitled “Looking Beyond the Horizon!”. Artur Voloshin, a postgraduate student from the Commercial Fishery Department, will represent our university at this important dialogue. Artur will present to a panel of authoritative experts – comprising representatives from the fishing industry, the business sector and science – his research into the hydro-electromechanical parameters of a small fishing catamaran for the development of an automatic trawling system.
