KSTU staff member attended the petrochemical forum

From 26 to 28 August 2026, the Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum —one of the largest international events in Russia’s oil and gas sector—took place at Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre.

R.K. Polyakov, Head of the Scientific Research Department at Kaliningrad State Technical University, attended the forum, which brought together leading experts, business representatives, and members of the scientific community.

Ruslan Konstantinovich actively participated in the round table discussion Implementation of the National Project New Materials and Chemistry on 27 August. During this discussion, participants addressed key areas for developing the national chemical industry, tackled import substitution issues, and explored the introduction of innovative materials into production.

The round-table participants paid particular attention to the state support measures provided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. During the discussion, participants examined the possibilities offered by the Cluster Investment Platform (CIP) in detail, which provides industrial enterprises with preferential loans for the implementation of priority investment projects aimed at the production of priority goods. Talks also focused on how to give financial help to cover some of the costs for research and development (R&D) using new technologies as part of innovation projects. The event’s participants believe that these support measures stimulate innovative activity within organisations, facilitate the creation and adaptation of cutting-edge technologies, and enable the launch of competitive, innovative products into production.

The Tatarstan Petrochemical Forum annually confirms its status as the most important international platform for developing effective solutions and discussing key issues related to the industry's technological development. The event included the international specialised exhibition KAZAN: OIL, GAS, CHEMISTRY, which brought together displays from leading Russian and international companies—equipment manufacturers and suppliers, as well as oil and gas production and petrochemical enterprises.

“The round table and the forum allowed me to familiarise myself with cutting-edge developments and technological solutions in the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors, establish new business contacts, and exchange experiences with colleagues from leading research centres and industrial enterprises. Of particular interest was the discussion of current government support measures, such as the Cluster Investment Platform and R&D subsidies, which open up new opportunities for implementing innovative projects. The knowledge gained and the connections established will be useful for the development of research activities at KSTU,” remarked R. K. Polyakov.
