The XXIX Dokuchaev's Readings International Scientific Conference took place from 2 to 4 March. It was held at Saint Petersburg State University and the Central Museum of Soil Science (a branch of the Federal Research Centre V.V. Dokuchaev Soil Science Institute). Soils and Human Health became the main theme of the symposium.

In 2026, participants from Russia, Belarus, and Morocco attended Dokuchaev's Readings. Conference participants presented reports from 29 regions of the Russian Federation.

The conference focused on the following areas:

  • - Urban soils and their impact on human health;
  • - Ecological functions of soils;
  • - Soil biology;
  • - Pollutants in soils;
  • - Resource potential of soils;
  • - School section: From observation to research.

The official opening speeches were given by the Chairman of the Conference Organising Committee, Professor B.F. Aparin; Professor of the Crystallography Department, Chairman of the Scientific Commission in the field of Earth Sciences and Related Environmental Sciences at the Institute of Earth Sciences of St. Petersburg State University, V.V. Gurzhiy; President of V.V. Dokuchaev Society of Soil Scientists, P.V. Krasilnikov; Director of V.V. Dokuchaev Central Museum of Soil Science, E.Yu. Sukhacheva; Head of the Soil Science and Soil Ecology Department, St. Petersburg State University, A.V. Rusakov; V.M. Tarbayeva, Chair of the Central Council of the Nature Conservation Union, Inter-Regional Public Organisation.

Third-year students of the Agronomy training direction, Lidia Demidova and Anastasia Chernyavskaya, participated in the section Resource Potential of Soils with a report on Comparative Characteristics of Soils and Yield of the Kaliningrad and Kaluga Regions. O.A. Antsiferova, professor the of the Agronomy and Agroecology Department at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Food Systems, helped prepare the work. Participation in the conference provides an opportunity to test the results of one's research work in front of the scientific community, acquire skills in communicating with an audience, and meet young scientists.

We would like to thank the organisers for the warm atmosphere and the opportunity to meet true professionals in their field! We would also like to express our gratitude to the administration of KSTU for giving us the opportunity to participate in the conference.
