Risk Busters team became the finalist in the labour safety case championship
Risk Busters, a team of KSTU students, has reached the final of the case study competition Labour Safety Management System as an Effective Tool for Retaining Human Resource Potential for the second year running, as part of Youth Day during the 2026 All-Russian Labour Safety Week. The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation organises the event. Annual case study competitions are held with the aim of developing and promoting the concept of safety culture in the workplace, and of engaging young people in creating initiatives to improve health and safety at work.
As part of the competition, teams have to identify the most effective tools for attracting human resources to an organisation in the following areas:
- occupational health and safety, corporate wellbeing programmes and a safety culture;
- staff training and the development of professional and meta-professional competencies (soft skills);
- financial and economic instruments and social guarantees.
To take part in the competition, the students prepared a presentation, an explanatory note and a synopsis on the topic Labour Safety Management System as an Effective Tool for Retaining Human Resource Potential. To prepare for the competition, they comprehensively analysed best practices in occupational health and safety management at major Russian companies, including enterprises in the Kaliningrad Region. The team then developed the Safe Workplace Community project — a comprehensive programme to modernise the labour safety management system, combining organisational, HR and digital solutions, including a platform for communication and feedback. The aim of implementing this programme is to reduce risks, increase employee engagement and retain human resources.
Of the 20 student teams that participated in the case study competition on this topic, six reached the final stage, including our team.
The final presentations of the competition projects will take place at the 11th All-Russian Labour Safety Week—2026 in Sochi. It will take place at Sirius University during the RLSW-2026 Youth Day, where our team will travel in October. Last year, the team Risk Busters was among the top three winners.
We wish Risk Busters the best of luck in the final!
