Shipbuilding projects discussed at KSTU
On 30 September, a meeting of the Shipbuilding, Ship Repair and Marine Engineering section took place. It was held as part of the XIV International Baltic Maritime Forum and the XIV National Scientific Conference with international participation, Marine Engineering and Technologies. ' Maritime Industry Safety. E.A. Chureev, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, chaired the section at the Scientific and Educational Centre of Shipbuilding, Maritime Infrastructure and Equipment at KSTU.
Master’s students, postgraduate students, and lecturers from the Scientific and Educational Centre of Shipbuilding, Maritime Infrastructure and Equipment, as well as invited participants from other organisations, shared the results of their research. In total, the participants delivered eight reports. They covered issues relevant both to the fields of shipbuilding and design technology and to the operation of marine equipment.
S.V. Terlych, Dean of the Faculty at Kherson State Maritime Academy, presented a paper entitled Determination of Main Particulars of a Small Fishing Vessel Considering Hull Form Constructability. The work was duly evaluated and received positive feedback.
N.L. Velikanov, a professor of the Scientific and Educational Centre at KSTU, presented the findings of his research on the topic Gear Pump Application for Marine Fuel Oil.
The presentation Research on Methods for Creating Permanent Joints of Thermoplastics in Ship Hull Construction (authors: postgraduate student A.A. Mushenkov and Doctor of Engineering Sciences N.L. Velikanov) highlighted important issues related to the welding of polymeric materials. The report was recommended for publication in the Scientific journal “KSTU News”.
P.R. Grishin, Senior Lecturer at KSTU, presented the results of the study Prospects of Using Photopolymer Resins in the Repair of Fiberglass Vessels (authors: Senior Lecturer P.R. Grishin; Doctor of Engineering Sciences. N.L. Velikanov; and student E.Ya. Lyakina). The paper aroused great interest among the audience and sparked a lively discussion on methods for repairing fiberglass vessel hulls. A representative of the JSC YANTAR shipyard also proposed further collaboration on the application of repair techniques to practical production tasks. The paper was recommended for publication in the Scientific journal “KSTU News”.
Postgraduate student D.N. Dmitrieva presented a paper entitled Determination of the Stress-Strain State of a Dock Block Foundation Considering the Physical Nonlinearity of the Material: Experiment and Numerical Modeling. She highlighted important issues regarding dock equipment defect detection and received feedback on the potential application of the methodology from a representative of the JSC YANTAR shipyard.
Master’s student N.A. Pankratova presented a paper on the topic Selection and Application of a Calculation Model for High-Density Polyethylene to Perform Structural Strength Analysis of Ship Hull Structures (authors: Senior Lecturer D.A. Romanyuta and Master’s student N.A. Pankratova). The paper was highly praised by the audience.
O.O. Lukyanova, a postgraduate student at the KSTU Scientific and Educational Centre, presented the findings of her research on the topic Selection of Bow Shape for a Tuna Seiner (authors: postgraduate student O.O. Lukyanova and E.A. Chureev, Candidate of Engineering Sciences). The paper sparked a lively discussion on the influence of fishing methods on the design of a fishing vessel’s hull shape.
In Associate Professor A.S. Sheverdyayev’s report, Recommendations for Technological Support in Mechanized Hull Flat Section Manufacturing, important aspects of manufacturing processes at shipyards were highlighted.
Based on the section’s results, all the reports were highly praised and left a positive impression.
