Over 30 people took part in the event, and 18 papers were presented. Representatives from the Republic of Uzbekistan also joined the session.

This year, as usual, the session featured a wide range of topical subjects, including those in biochemistry.

In particular, the participants discussed the study of fossil resins using optical methods; the development of a functional drink with adaptogenic properties for people limiting their caffeine intake; optimising the composition of a nutrient medium to extend the vase life of cut flowers; the use of collagen in public catering; the production of biopolymer films based on secondary fish raw material; and many other interesting and topical reports.

Four scientific presentations were delivered by young researchers from Uzbekistan. These covered research into grapes, antiseptics, quantitative analysis, and the visualisation of intermolecular interactions in crystals.

Following the section’s work, the jury decided to award the places as follows:

  • - I place went to K. Lakhtionova for her work, Study of Fossil Resins Using Optical Methods. Academic supervisors: A.G. Bulychev, Associate Professor, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, and B.Yu. Vorotnikov, Associate Professor, Candidate of Engineering Sciences.
  • - II place went to E. Afanasyeva for her work Analysis of Benzaldehyde Content in the Vapour Phase of a Bacterial Colony and Assessment of the Prospects for its Isolation as a Natural Flavouring Agent. Academic supervisors: A.G. Bulychev, Associate Professor, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, and O.V. Kazimirchenko, Associate Professor, Candidate of Biological Sciences.
  • - III place went to a participant from the Republic of Uzbekistan (Tashkent), Zulfiya Yusupkhodzhaeva, with the research paper Application of IR Spectroscopy as a Method for Determining Flavonoids in Vitis vinifera L Grape Skin Extract, supervised by V.V. Anisimov, Associate Professor, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, and A.U. Abdurakhimova, Associate Professor, Candidate of Engineering Sciences.

The committee recommended several research papers for publication in the conference proceedings and in the journal Youth Science Reporter.

The Chemistry Department of KSTU would like to thank all participants in the session for their insightful and topical presentations!

The event is being held as part of a grant from the federal budget to higher education institutions for the implementation of activities aimed at supporting student scientific societies.
