On the 22nd of May, 67 years ago, the USSR Council of Ministers issued Resolution No. 546. On the Transfer of Moscow Technical Institute of Fishing Industry and Economy to Kaliningrad.

Now, the new Soviet university was called Kaliningrad Technical Institute of Fishing Industry and Economy (KTIFIE).

On September 1st of the same year, the first students of KTIFIE, enrolled in the Kaliningrad region and transferred from Moscow, sat down at the institute's desks and began their studies.

The first faculties of the new institute were Commercial Fishery, Shipbuilding, Mechanical and Technological.

Today, KSTU is the leading higher educational institution of the Rosrybolovstvo educational complex.

The university includes KSTU, the Baltic Fishing Fleet State Academy, Kaliningrad Maritime Fishery College and a branch, Saint Petersburg Maritime Fishery College. We will continue publishing about important historical dates and honoured people of our university.
