On 29 September, the Current Issues in Physics section held a meeting in academic building No. 1. The presented reports showcased the high standard of interdisciplinary research conducted at two leading universities in Kaliningrad—KSTU and IKBFU.

The topics covered a wide range of subjects, from fundamental physics to applied chemistry and the analysis of shipbuilding materials. It is worth noting that in several papers, the co-authors collaborated closely with one another, indicating the existence of integrated research clusters in the region.

In most of their works, the presenters relied on optical and radiofrequency spectroscopic research methods: X-ray luminescence, photon correlation spectroscopy, NMR, and combinational (Raman) scattering.

According to the presenters, research into fuels and lubricants forms a unified block aimed at improving the reliability of maritime and land transport.

The presented reports demonstrate a coherent sequence ranging from fundamental physics (crystals and non-linear optics) through the chemistry of complex organic systems to rigorous quality control of materials.

All the papers presented captured the audience’s close attention, and colleagues actively engaged in discussing them.
