On 29 September, at Preussisch-Eylau Castle, our students from the Institute of Industry-Based Economics and Management and Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Food Systems, together with students from Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, presented their projects as part of an intensive course on collaborative design within the educational track of the 11th International Biennale Baltic Design' 2026.

The event took place from 24 to 29 September in Bagrationovsk. Ten students represented our university at the event. Under the competition rules, they were assigned to different teams.

The student teams presented their own visions for transforming the area, ranging from cosy recreational zones to the integration of contemporary art installations and lighting.

“The jury assessed and selected the best joint student project; it was named City of Encounters. Our student team, comprising Daria Imkhovik, Elizaveta Hau-Si-Vin and Ekaterina Zinovieva, most fully captured the city’s historical atmosphere and proposed their own distinctive style and an unusual artistic concept.

The city will implement the creative design, which will make the public space – the square next to the district administration building – even more comfortable and modern for residents and visitors to the Bagrationovsky Municipality,” noted Acting Head of the Administration A.V. Semikov.

O.B. Ilyina, Associate Professor of the Management Department at KSTU, and E.A. Baldina, a lecturer at Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University and a member of the Russian Designers Association, supervised the project.

E.S. Enina, Head of the Management Department at KSTU, was one of the jury members. Following the project presentations, Ekaterina Sergeevna noted the liveliness of the participants’ presentations and the positive impact of the teams’ interdisciplinary approach. Thanks to this, it was possible to create high-quality, practice-orientated concepts which, in addition to design and landscaping solutions, include a well-thought-out marketing strategy for promoting the city, complete with an economic justification for the project proposals.
