KSTU participated in the festival ‘Rediscovering Russia. Together with the RGS Youth Movement’

On 18 August, the festival Rediscovering Russia: Together with the RGS Youth Movement took place at the Museum of the World Ocean. The festival marked the anniversary of the All-Russian gathering of the Russian Geographical Society’s (RGS) Youth Movement.

More than 60 delegations from various regions of Russia attended the festival. The participants took part in a ceremony of presenting tablets containing historical information about the 12 municipal districts of the Kaliningrad Region. It was from these regions that the first settlers arrived in our region after the Great Patriotic War. The event took place as part of the campaign A Region Revived by the Whole Country. The Zemlyachestva (associations of fellow-countrymen) ethnic village stood out as a particular highlight, showcasing the regions' traditional attributes and crafts.

The festival programme featured various interactive zones: masterclasses, photo zones, quests and a Spils-maps (dissected maps) collecting championship. The festival concluded with a flag parade and a concert programme featuring a joint performance of the Geographer’s Anthem.

A delegation from the Water Bioresources and Aquaculture Department, alongside activists from the KSTU Youth Club of the Russian Geographical Society, represented the Kaliningrad Region and our university in particular. Festival guests saw the scientific activities of the Water Bioresources and Aquaculture Department aimed at studying the Kaliningrad Region. These included the following areas: geology, hydrochemistry, hydrobiology, ichthyology and aquaculture.

The department’s activities attracted the interest of both the youngest geography enthusiasts and adult residents of the city and tourists.
