The student construction brigade Western Beavers (Zapadnye bobry) from Kaliningrad State Technical University is working at the construction site of the Siberian Circular Photon Source (SKIF), the Centre for Collective Use. The students are among 279 participants from 13 regions of Russia who were honoured to take part in the implementation of the national project Science and Universities.

SKIF is a Megascience class project with a synchrotron of generation 4+. Its construction started in 2021 in Koltsovo science city near Novosibirsk. The uniqueness of the Megasience class project is that it will emit the brightest beam of photons. The SKIF stations are planned to study the structures of biopolymers, mechanisms of living organisms functioning, hereditary information transfer, medicine action mechanisms, creation of new materials and research of fast-flowing processes.

Members of the student squad perform concrete, reinforcement and decoration works.

‘All participants of the labour project have undergone professional training in working specialities before starting their work. The participants of the student construction site become involved in the building of a globally significant object. The students are building not just an object; they are building history,’ said Mikhail Kiselev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy, Chairman of the Board of Russian Student Squads.

We wish the students to represent our region with honour at the grandiose construction site!
