Section Electrical Engineering discussed the future of electroenergetics
On 21 April, the Boiling Point venue hosted a session of the Electrical Engineering section as part of the 5th International scientific and technical conference for students and cadets, Science Days. The event attracted a large number of participants—the lecture room was almost completely full. There was considerable interest in the reports presented, and many questions sparked lively discussion.
The meeting’s agenda covered a wide range of topics — from the design of large-scale grid facilities to the creation of laboratory stands and renewable energy.
Grid construction and generation. A. Plotnikov presented the results of his research on the design of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug’s system-forming grid (supervised by Prof. V.F. Beley, assistant G.V. Kotsar). A. Demin spoke about the design of a wind power plant in the Kaliningrad region (supervised by Prof. V.F. Beley, assistant G.V. Kotsar). A.A. Panov analysed the current state and prospects of microgeneration in Russia (supervised by Assoc. Prof. M.S. Kharitonov).
Nuclear-power engineering. A. Zemlyakov presented a report on small-scale nuclear power stations as a new approach to the use of nuclear energy (supervised by Assoc. Prof. M.S. Kharitonov).
Renewable Energy Sources and Photovoltaics. E. Komarova spoke about the prospects for using photovoltaic installations in substation self-consumption systems. N. Klyuchko spoke about the prospects for building-integrated photovoltaic systems in the Kaliningrad region (supervised by Assoc. Prof. M.S. Kharitonov).
Laboratory equipment and educational stands. A series of presentations, led by Associate Professor I.E. Kazhekin, focused on the development and modernisation of stands: D. Sidorovich – a switchgear cubicle; M. Zaichenko and S. Marchenko – a stand on relay protection and automation; I. Vasilyev – a stand for adjusting digital protection systems. Outside the competition, pupils from Kaliningrad Grammar School No. 32 also participated in the section. I. Vinter presented a digital model of a bladeless wind turbine, and D. Filipchik investigated the influence of external factors on the power output of a photovoltaic module (supervised by physics teacher A.G. Yaremchuk). A. Demyanova gave a presentation on the automation of temperature control in an industrial greenhouse during the summer period (supervised by engineer D.E. Demyanov, Private Institution for Additional Professional Education "Gazprom Industry Scientific-Research Training Centre" - Gazprom ONUTC).
A.G. Kuzichev, Head of the Western District of Electrical Grids at AO Rosseti-Yantar, took an active part in the section’s proceedings; he noted the high standard and enthusiasm of the presenters for their topics.
The results of the session were as follows:
- - 1st place — A. Plotnikov, supervised by Prof. V.F. Beley and Assistant G.V. Kotsar;
- - 2nd place — I. Vasilyev, supervised by Assoc. Prof. I.E. Kazhekin;
- - 3rd place — E. Komarova, supervised by Associate Professor M.S. Kharitonov.
We congratulate the winners and their supervisors on this well-deserved recognition.
The event is being held as part of a grant from the federal budget to higher education institutions for the implementation of initiatives aimed at supporting student scientific societies.
