Students will develop a 'green improvement' project for Kaliningrad

The Main Academic Building of the university hosted the opening of the project-based educational intensive course Generation Z. Eco-engineering: Green City Laboratory.

The Institute of Marine Technologies, Power Engineering and Construction, in collaboration with the Technosphere Safety and Environmental Engineering Department, organised the intensive course. Its goal is to create an interdisciplinary project platform where student teams develop comprehensive solutions for the engineering development of urban areas, with a focus on environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and closed-loop resource systems. The team of organisers and mentors of the intensive course included associate professors N.R. Akhmedova, E.S. Zemlyakova, A.S. Lavrova, S.A. Tereshchenko, and M.S. Kharitonov.

At the opening of the intensive course, the organisers held a project presentation and formed interdisciplinary teams that brought together students from the Agronomy, Environmental Engineering and Water Management, Construction, and Electroenergetics and Electrical Engineering training directions.

Over the course of two months, the participants will have to develop a project for the green improvement of a real urban site in the city of Kaliningrad. In addition to working in teams, the students will have the opportunity to attend a series of training seminars on idea generation, creating effective presentations, public speaking, and economic issues.

The final stage of the intensive course will be a public defence of interdisciplinary student projects before an expert jury consisting of representatives from the KSTU administration and invited specialists from relevant industries.
