The Department of Engineering Infrastructure for Capital Construction Objects held its first Summer Technical School

This year, the Department of Engineering Infrastructure for Capital Construction Objects participated for the first time in the summer technical school organised by the Institute of Marine Technologies, Power Engineering and Construction for tenth-grade pupils. Department Head R. A. Shestakov and lecturers Y. S. Matveeva and V. G. Fetisov conducted the classes for pupils from Municipal Autonomous Educational Institution Secondary School No. 31 and Municipal Autonomous Educational Institution Grammar School No. 22.

The first part of the programme was a masterclass entitled Logistics of Oil and Gas Supply. It focused on introducing the students to logistics and comparing the characteristics of oil and gas supply, as well as studying the composition and purpose of main oil and gas pipeline infrastructure. Divided into teams, the students devised their route options—from the deposits to the end consumers. The students then presented their ideas to the group.

Besides the masterclass, the Department of Engineering Infrastructure for Capital Construction Objects conducted a tour of its laboratories. The students were shown the Natural Gas Transportation and Distribution laboratory with stands and equipment simulating the operation of main gas pipelines and gas supply networks. They also visited the Heat Supply and Heating laboratory, where they were explained the working principle of a heat pump and the characteristics of centralised and autonomous heating.

The students were told about the undergraduate programme Design, Construction and Operation of Gas and Oil Pipelines and Gas and Oil Storage Facilities, which trains personnel for oil and gas enterprises in the Kaliningrad Region.

During the classes and the tour, the young people asked many questions and showed great enthusiasm and interest. The school pupils learnt a lot about the training directions offered by the Department of Engineering Infrastructure for Capital Construction Objects, and some are even considering applying for the suggested specialities.
