Young scientists presented their papers on Ichthyopathology and Hydrobiology
The Ichthyopathology and Hydrobiology section held a session at KSTU. It took place as part of the 5th International scientific and technical conference for students and cadets, Science Days. The session was chaired by S.A. Sudnik, Associate Professor of the Water Bioresources and Aquaculture Department. Students and master's students presented six papers.
The reports by Anastasia Ovcharuk and Sofya Pereviznik focused on various aspects of the biology of two significant species of decapod crustaceans. These were the widespread invasive Harris mud crab (Rhithropanopeus harrisii) of the Azov-Black Sea basin and the commercial northern shrimp from habitats new to the species — the Laptev and Kara Seas.
Tatyana Alekseeva and Polina Nesterova presented important data on the microbiocenoses of perch infested with the larvae of dangerous parasitic trematode worms, as well as on Atlantic salmon, water and feed in closed-loop water supply systems. Research supervisor: Associate Professor O.V. Kazimirchenko.
The jury members noted the relevance and scope of Alexandra Pogodina’s work. She presented the characteristics of phytoplankton in the water body in Victory Park. Her research supervisor is E.A. Sevostyanova, a senior engineer at the department.
Anna Rafikova’s study on the zoobenthos of the Parkovy Stream aroused great interest. Research Supervisor: E.A. Masyutkina, Candidate of Biological Sciences.
Following the analysis of the points awarded by the jury, comprising six lecturers from the Water Bioresources and Aquaculture Department at KSTU, the prize winners were as follows:
1st place — Anastasia Ovcharuk;
2nd place — Tatiana Alekseeva;
3rd place — Alexandra Pogodina.
Tatiana Alekseeva, Sofya Pereviznik, and Polina Nesterova's works have been recommended for publication in the journal Youth Science Reporter. Student Alexandra Pogodina's work received a recommendation for participation in the university round of the All-Russian competition for the best research paper.
The organizers of the conference section received acknowledgements. All students who participated in the conference section got certificates of participation. Soon, the winners will receive diplomas from the organisers.
We would like to thank all participants, conference guests and the scientific experts of the jury!
The event is being held as part of a grant from the federal budget to higher education institutions for the implementation of activities aimed at supporting student scientific societies.
