A solemn ceremony of ‘Initiation into Students and Cadets’ took place
On 25 September, a solemn ceremony Initiation into Students and Cadets took place on the stage of the Royal Park Hall. After this event, yesterday's applicants officially became full members of the large KSTU family. Activists from KSTU, BFFSA and KMFC organised the celebration under the guidance of the university's Department of Educational Work and Youth Policy.
Shortly before the event began, anyone who wished could take a souvenir photo in the photo zone or photo booth.
The first to address the first-year students with words of encouragement was the Acting Rector of Kaliningrad State Technical University, A.G. Mnatsakanyan. Albert Gurgenovich thanked the students for choosing KSTU. He also wished them a vibrant student life and success in mastering their future professions.
In the first part of the initiation ceremony, guests from regional government bodies delivered welcoming speeches: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Policy A.V. Maister, E.I. Dyatlova, Head of Kaliningrad City Administration, Y.A. Taranova, Legislative Assembly Member, and E.A. Papakina, Deputy Minister of Youth Policy. G.P. Taranov, Deputy Head of the Northwest Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fishery, and representatives of partner organisations: Baltkran, Rybflot-For, SPAR, Pravdinskoye Svinoproizvodstvo (Pravdinsky Pork Production), Shipyard Yantar, Sberbank, Russian Agricultural Bank, and the Union of Builders of the Kaliningrad Region.
The highlight of the evening was the oath of allegiance to the university—the solemn words ‘we swear’ were spoken in unison by the first-year students. Yesterday's applicants promised to spare no effort or time in pursuing their studies and to use the knowledge gained at the university for the benefit of their Fatherland, and for the first time together, performed the old student anthem Gaudeamus. Immediately afterwards, a bright and dynamic dance performance with a laser show began.
On this festive evening, the creative groups STEPanida and The Sails of the Kruzenstern presented their dance performances on the stage of the Royal Park. The audience was treated to songs by M. Ashurova, The Voice contestant I. Semin, and a group of KSTU students from 12 countries. They came out with the flags of their countries and sang the song ‘Me, you, him, her – together we are a whole country.’ The participants of the KVN league PLOTVA received loud applause and smiles at the ceremony for their performance.
These concert pieces showed first-year students a wide range of extracurricular activities in which each student can reach their potential.
The creative evening left behind vivid impressions and pleasant memories. We congratulate the first-year students on their initiation and joining our big friendly family!
