International Baltic Maritime Forum started at KSTU
Today, the opening ceremony and plenary session of the Baltic Maritime Forum took place in the assembly hall of Kaliningrad State Technical University. The Baltic Maritime Forum is a major annual international scientific and practical event and is being held at Kaliningrad State Technical University for the fourteenth time. Kaliningrad State Technical University organises it with the support of the Federal Agency for Fishery and the Government of the Kaliningrad Region.
A.G. Mnatsakanyan, Acting Rector of KSTU, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. In his address, he noted that science, education and industry interact at the forum. This demonstrates that the forum offers an excellent platform for discussion, enabling us to apply all our scientific achievements in practical life.
The forum's opening featured a presentation of the recent development—the Fishing Strategy game simulator. Using this interactive model, students will learn about economics, fisheries strategy, resource management and many other indicators.
The Head of the West Baltic Territorial Administration of Rosrybolovstvo S.V. Kotyukh; Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Industry and Trade of the Kaliningrad Region D.A. Khazanova; Deputy Head of the Department – Head of the Mineral Resource Use Division at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Kaliningrad Region under the Government of the Kaliningrad Region – M.I. Kogai; Head of the Northwestern Branch of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping V.G. Kemoklidze; Deputy Head of the company Fishering Service D.A. Belotserkovtseva and Deputy Head of the Operational office for Corporate Business at VTB Bank D.A. Ponamarev also addressed the participants of the forum.
The plenary session of the Maritime Forum featured presentations of scientific papers. M.A. Buduratsky, Adviser to the Director-General of Rybflot-FOR, shared his views on catch volumes, technologies and fish processing.p>
A.M. Tokranov, Head of the Hydrobiology Laboratory at the Kamchatka branch of the Pacific Institute of Geography of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, gave a presentation to the audience.
One of the speakers at the plenary session of the Maritime Forum was L.V. Antipova, Professor in the Department of Animal-Based Food Technology at Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies.
The opening ceremony also saw the signing of a cooperation agreement between the administration of OOO Fishering Service and KSTU. The Acting Rector of the university, A.G. Mnatsakanyan, and the company’s Deputy Director, D.A. Belotserkovtseva, signed the document. Fishering Service is a long-standing partner of our university.
During the plenary session, the United Shipbuilding Corporation awarded corporate scholarships to five students who had achieved significant success in their professional training and research work. Y.L. Oganezova, Director of the Human Resources Department at the United Shipbuilding Corporation, presented the scholarship certificates.
The programme for the BMF, which this year will take place from 28 September to 2 October, includes 13 conferences on priority areas for the development of the maritime industry. Russian and international scientists, researchers and experts will take part in these events.
The forum had already registered 610 participants by the start. Over 330 papers had been submitted. Representatives from more than 50 universities and research institutes, from Kaliningrad to the Far East, are participating in the BMF. Representatives from universities in Belarus, China, Vietnam and Abkhazia are also taking part in the conferences.
The forum will also host the 4th Interregional Symposium Regional Aspects of Fisheries and a round table discussion on Topical Issues of Small-Sized and Lightweight Shipbuilding in Russia.
The aim of the forum is to exchange scientific and technical achievements, expand scientific and technical cooperation, and develop effective strategies for implementing innovative ideas.
A particular focus of the forum is on examining new educational technologies and improving the system of integrated online education in maritime disciplines.
The International Baltic Maritime Forum offers a unique opportunity to expand scientific and business ties and to present the results of scientific research to the expert community.
