On September 30, the Scientific and Educational Centre of Shipbuilding, Maritime Infrastructure and Equipment at KSTU hosted another session as part of the Fascinating ENVIRONMENT (Uvlekatelnaya SREDA) project.

Eighth-grade students from Lyceum No. 18 participated in the session, titled SHIP-ENVIRONMENT: Creating the Ideal Vessel. P.R. Grishin, an instructor at the centre, led the event.

During the session, the students explored the fundamentals of shipbuilding. They learnt about the characteristics that influence a vessel's performance and were introduced to the educational and laboratory facilities at the Scientific and Educational Centre of Shipbuilding, Maritime Infrastructure and Equipment at KSTU.

In the practical part of the session, the students learnt about rigging, the process of aligning a ship's propeller shaft, and how the surfaces of propeller blades are examined.

The highlight of the event was the creation of prototypes for their vessels.

This allowed the students to assume the roles of professional naval architects and put the acquired knowledge into practice.
